Connotative Analysis:
- The colour green is frequently used. The colour could represent the growth that Forrest undergoes throughout his life. Green is used in his childhood memories ( green out of the window in the background of the bus) and green is also used in his adulthood ( green uniforms from when he was in the army) Green is significant because it shows us how Forrest has matured.
- Forrest runs a lot throughout the trailer. Forrest runs whenever hes feeling stressed. We know when hes stressed if he has frowned eyebrows, and unemotive facial features, and if theres loud noises in the background. This is why he never tells the audience that hes feeling under pressure.
- Most of the shortened scenes in this trailer, are of him and Jenny. This tells us that there is a strong relationship between them. Forrest is kind to Jenny, "you can stay with me in my house if you want, ill take care of you" This shows us that Forrest cares about Jenny a lot.
- Determination by Forrest is shown throughout the trailer. His determined attitude in looking after Jenny, being with Jenny and saving lives in the army makes Forrest a great character and an inspiration.
- Forrest's Mother is always giving Forrest advice, and encouraging him to not care about what others think of him. Because of this Forrest was able to walk around with braces on his legs, and able to ignore the bullies who taunted him for not being as intelligent as others. His Mothers words helped him to accomplish many things throughout the film.
Message/ Values:
The overall message that Forrest Gump conveys, is that you dont have to be intelligent to accomplish many great things in life. Forrest shows that if you are a good person like being humble, kind hearted and loyal you can do anything.
Appeal:
I think that the Forrest Gump trailer would be appealing to anyone. But specifically people who enjoy 'real' films. I think that the target audience for Forrest Gump would be teenagers and adults. Children wouldn't be able to understand the story line, also older audiences would be able to see the greater meaning behind the film. I think that this film has three genres, Romance, Comedy and Drama. I can tell that there is Romance because of the close connection between Jenny and Forrest. I can tell that theres comedy because the trailer contains humorous lines of narration " Stupid does as stupid says." Lastly I can tell that theres drama because of the many emotional scenes, that were usually between Forrest and Jenny.

- Marlin- "Has anybody seen my son?"
- Shark hitting into the metal trap
- Men at works song - 'A land down under'
- Dory and Marlin screaming
- Orchestral music- trumpets
Connotative Analysis:
- I think that the Director has made Dory a blue fish, rather than any other colour because blue is the colour of loyalty. Dory stays with Marlin throughout the film, she doesn't have to, but she chooses too. Dory's loyalty is a significant part of the film because at the beginning Dory had short-term memory loss, but her loyalty towards Marlin returns her memory.
- Bright and clear colouring is used throughout the films trailer, although some scenes are dimly lit. The bright and clear use of colours create a sense of happiness. When Marlin was sending Nemo to school, there were many bold colours in the background like red, orange and yellow. These colours made the scene look cheerful. Dim colours have been used to make the atmosphere of a scene scary. An example of a dimly lit scene was when 'Bruce' the shark was hitting the metal trap. The loud sound effects and dark colours along with dim lighting made the scene alarming.
- The main characters in the movie are Marlin, and Nemo. I think that the Director has made these two characters clownfish to emphasis there importance. There bold orange bodies makes them stand out, so our eyes are only drawn to them.
- The use of orchestral music makes the film light-hearted. The soft and sweet music represents what kind of audiences the film is aimed towards. I think that the light music indicates that this film is for younger audiences.
- Nigel the pelican constantly appears throughout the film/trailer. This is because he is an important character. Nigel is the one who always has the answers and the solutions in trying to find Nemo.
Messages/ Values:
I think that the film Finding Nemo sends a few messages across. One message is that Parents should have faith in there children, to let them discover and learn about new things. Another message is that its worth facing your fears, for the people you love, and lastly the movie teaches us to never give up.
Appeal:
Finding Nemo would be appealing to younger audiences, as it contains lots of bright colours, and animation. But i also think that older audiences would enjoy the movie just as much, as they would be able to see the deeper meanings behind the film. I think that the films genre is a mix of animation and drama. I can tell that its animation because of the unrealistic characters, and i can tell that its also a drama because of the many dramatic problems that Marlin undergoes through his journey of finding his son.

See:

- Bridal party

Hear:
- Rock music - electric guitar
- Lillian - "I'm engaged"
- Annie- "uncertain laugh"- after seeing maid of honour duty list
- Sound of car engine starting up
- Becca- "I was so distraught when i was single"
- Helen- "Did you just come from work?"
- A dog grunting at Helen
- Ice cubes in alcoholic drink
- "Annie- "Im ready to party"
- Helen screaming in car
- Tennis ball hitting Annie
- Megan burping
Connotative Analysis:
- I think that the director chose pink for the titles in the trailer, because pink represents love, and love is one of the main focuses in the movie. Love is shown between Annie and her best friend Lillian. There is also romance between the bridesmaids and there partners and also Annie and her boyfriend, who she mets during the film.
- Rock music is used in the trailer because we use words like fiery, loud, and wild to describe rock music, and these words describe the film. The films fiery side, is shown through the on going tension between Helen and Annie as they fight over Lillian. The film is loud like rock music, because of the Bridesmaids outgoing personalties. Lastly the movie is wild, as there are many crazy plot lines and twists.
- Annie looks uncertain at the beginning of the film. She's stressed about her role as maid of honour, and she doesn't really know if she will succeed in making Lilian's wedding the best day of her life. Annie is also unsure about what to think of Helen. As the film progresses she sorts things out, but not everything goes her way.
- Megan's care free personality has been presented through many verbal and visual techniques. Before Lllian introduces Megan to Annie, Megan is dancing awkwardly by herself, whilst everyone else is talking to each other. This tells us that Megan doesn't care if shes by herself just so long as shes having a good time. Megan also isn't afraid to voice her opinions, even if they're a little outrageous. An example of Megan voicing her opinion was when they were giving there suggestions for a Bachelorette party, Megan suggested a Female Fight Club, she liked the idea and when others said they didn't she accepted that. Megan also isn't afraid to be herself. She doesn't wear the clothes that are in trend like the other Bridesmaids do, she just wears the clothes that she likes.
Messages/ values:
Appeal:
I think that this film trailer would be appealing to woman, because there are many emotional scenes, also the story of a powerful friendship would be more likely to relate to woman rather than men, and the romantic based plot line, which females would appreciate more. The target audience would be for mid teenage girls, and woman, as they would be mature enough to watch some of the inappropriate scenes. I think that the film has two genres, chick flick, and comedy. I can tell that its a chick flick because of the heavy emotion in some scenes, and the Romance. I can tell that the film is a comedy because of the way real life situations, have been exaggerated humorously.
